The honest limits, before you spend time on a file
Repackaged or re-encoded
If the video inside is already H.264, it can be moved into an MP4 without being re-encoded, so the picture is untouched. Otherwise it is re-encoded to H.264. The page says which before you start.
Older formats
FLV, AVI, WMV, MPEG and similar files that browsers can't play are decoded by a built-in engine that runs in the page, then written as MP4.
Already an MP4?
If the file is already an MP4, AMGlide tells you there is nothing to convert rather than re-encoding it.
Limits
Videos up to 1 GB. Sound the MP4 can't carry is converted to AAC; the page tells you if a track can't be kept. It needs a browser that can encode video — current Chrome and Edge can; if yours can't, this page says so before you choose a file.
