What carries across
The text itself — paragraphs, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, bold and italic, and links — rebuilt as real, editable Word text, one Word page per PDF page. Multi-column pages are read column by column.
What doesn't
A PDF doesn't remember the document it was made from. Pictures are not carried into the Word file, and a table comes across as its text rather than as a Word table. Complex layouts may need some editing afterwards.
Scanned PDFs
A scan is a picture of a page, with no text to move across. AMGlide recognises one before converting and says so, instead of handing you an empty document. Making a scan searchable (OCR) is part of the AMGlide browser extension.
Limits
PDFs up to 100 MB and 200 pages. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first.
Is my PDF uploaded to convert it?
No. The PDF is read and the Word document is built inside this browser tab. Nothing is sent to AMGlide or anyone else, and closing the tab discards both.
Will the Word document look exactly like the PDF?
It will say the same thing, with the same headings, lists and links, but it is rebuilt rather than recovered. Pictures are left out and tables become text, so a heavily designed page may need tidying in Word.
Why does it say my PDF is scanned?
Most of its pages have no real text, only a picture of text. There is nothing to convert until the text has been recognised, which the AMGlide extension's OCR PDF does.
